Institute of Applied Research (IAF)
|
The Institute of Applied Research (IAF) is the central coordination and service centre for the seven research institutes of Biberach University of Applied Sciences. The IAF assists and advises the institutes in the initiation and realisation of their research and development activities. More precisely, the IAF deals with the central coordination of the research and development activities. |
Goals of the IAF
|
The goal of the IAF is to enhance and strengthen the profile of Biberach University of Applied Science as a research institution. This is fuelled by the conviction that the application-oriented research of the institutes offers ideal conditions for enriching the education of the university's students. On the one hand, the students benefit from the forward-looking, innovative topics of the research projects, on the other hand, they are given the opportunity to participate directly in research projects. This allows for immersive practical experiences and frequently establishes contacts with potential employers. The sponsors, on the other hand, benefit directly from the results of the research and the exposure to the sciences. This technology transfer guarantees a continued capacity for innovation and establishes and expands competencies.
Research at Biberach University of Applied Sciences takes place in cooperation with small, medium-sized and also large companies. In addition to this, these projects can sometimes receive supplementary public funding.
Research projects funded wholly with public third-party funds are also performed by the institutes, these projects are then the sole responsibility of Biberach University of Applied Sciences. The spectrum of these projects ranges from classic contract research to joint projects in the area of basic research. The sustainable expansion of these cooperation forms and provision of favourable conditions for research at Biberach University of Applied Sciences is the declared goal of the IAF.
