University Council

The University Council has overall responsability for the development of the University and takes measures for defining its mission and for raising its efficiency and its competitivity.
The University Council supervises the executive function of the rector.

The Chairman of the University Council is Dr. h. c. Karlmann Geiß, Präsident des Bundesgerichtshofes a. D.

According to the new statutes, the University Council has 11 members (6 of them are External members).

The principal tasks of the University Council are among others:

Election of the First Class members of the Executive Board

Decisions about the structure and future development of the University

Decisions about the budget project

Fundamental decisions of most efficient use of equipment and supply for research and teaching.

Decisions about the duties and functions of professor positions.

Diccussion of the annual report of the Rector and the discharge of the rectorate.
