well-founded and interdisciplinary The studies of Architectural Engineering close the often lamented gap in the education between the classic study of building services engineering, building physics and architecture.
This study course puts its focus on economic efficiency, preserving resources as well a comfortableness, comfort and quality of stay in rooms, buildings and in the handling.
hard and soft Beside the engineering basics we offer soft skills training which is needed in professional life more and more. Within a particular project students learn different aspects and the practical use of building climate.
roots until maturing The regular number of semesters in the bachelor studies including the bachelor-thesis as well as the exams make up seven semesters all together.
The studies are divided in different modules and remind, concerning the structure, of the life cycle of a tree:
The first module (1. and 2. semester) form the basics (roots), the second (3. and 4. semester) serves as an introduction into professional and practical fields (growing), the third (semester of practical work experience) puts the aquired knowledge and skills into practice (evolving): within the last module (6. and 7. semester) the students achieve, through specialized subjects and projects, the ability to work in a certain profession (maturing).
For the sucessfull completion of the studies the student has to do a 148 study-hours per semester and achieve 210 credits (points according to the European Credit Transfer System - ECTS).
spezialised and scientific The master studies are open for all alumni of the bachelor as well as of the diploma studies with the right adequacy.
In the process of the studies follows the master of science as the next element. The master focusses on current tasks of engineers in planning, building and operating buildings technically and scientificly. The studies are scientific and project-orientated and take place in close cooperation with interdisciplinary institutes of the Hochschule Biberach, which support the science with their laboratoies and teaching. |

The Hochschule Biberach unites those different qualifications among the bachelor studies and master studies. Those are besides engineering-technics, basics and important soft skills for the profession, such as the basic principles and the practical experience of building climate and those of the climate building ability as well as project-orientated work and particular tasks .
The main focus and the essential feature is the basic and simultanously comprehensive education in the subjects of building physics/building climate as well as in technologies and trade for room-conditioning (heating, ventilation, cooling), energy supply and automation for all phases of a building (planning, realisation, handling and modernisation).

The studies of building climate offer before the start of the actual study and particularlily at the important interfaces of the study courses an intensive, obligatory advisory service. This offer should helps to find the individual degree opportunities, the necessary qualification and the special personal schedule of studies.

Buildings have to reach a maximum of profitability, energy efficiency, preservation of resources as well as comfort for the inhabitants. Engineers of building climate realize these objectives. The field of occupation enfolds conception, planning, preparation and coordination of the execution as well as the modernisation of technical and climatical sytsems in buildings.
The studies orientate at the content of the professional and salary regulations for architects and engineers (HOAI) as well as at the association for advisory engineers (VBI). The professional field demands a professional-profoundly and interdisciplinary trained engineers of building climate, which beyond that have developed a economically, technically and ecologically high sense of responsibility and which are willing to practise teamwork. |

Within the civil engineering as well as similar industries and branches the opportunieties of finding a job are higher-than-average because these fields of work are only in parts present in the cyclically-dependent new developement. In the use and conversion of the buildings constancy, which are independent from the current trade cycle, specialized engineers are constantly needed.
So far all alumni of these studies have found an appropriate employment afterwards. Fields of work are:
- planning- and architecturel offices - executive firms of the technical building equipment - private or municipal advisory- and service companies - operater of buildings (industrial companies, hospital, communes e.g.) - components- and system manufacturer (heating-, airing-, climate-, electrical- and control technic) - property administration and facility management in service companies |
