Starting as a civil engineer / project manager: The weak situation concerning projects and job-possibilities in the building industry did not improve - the construction industry belongs to the taillights of the development relating to market conditions. However, most people concerned are senior civil engineers. According to the General Federation of the German Building Industry all qualified graduates have found an occupation after their study. Predominantly small and middle offices offered in 2003 jobs for civil engineers in the building sector. 25 per cent of the job-offers came from architecture and engineer’s offices. About 20 per cent came from the construction industry, 14.4 per cent from the public sector and seven per cent from from time-work companies. According to the ZAV-job market experts, employers have “very high demandings” towards the new generation. The specialised knowledge and skills that are demanded: Knowledge of construction management as well as construction supervision and the financial part of civil engineering.
