International Workshop: Mobility as a urban factor

Objectives (Learning Outcome): In this course, we explore how existing and future mobility solutions fit into the overall urban mobility landscape, what the opportunities and challenges are and how policies and operations work together. The main outcome will look at the emerging trends that could influence the student’s personal user experience. 

At the end of this short course, the students will have foundational knowledge of user experience to apply in their own mobility patterns. The students will also understand the historical context of traffic engineering and deduce why the user experience approach is relevant for sustainable mobility planning.

Lecture topics (content):

  • Develop a basic understanding of existing and future mobility solutions 
  • Develop a basic understanding of user-centred spaces in the context of the street and public space across different mobility modes
  • Compare the application of principles in a people-oriented and car-oriented street environment
  • Reflect on the principles in their own context

Teaching format (e.g. online/in person lecture/Seminar/Lab etc.): Workshop on campus and online meetings

Examination: Assignment on the analysis of personal mobility habits, development of proposals and final presentation
