Project description: 

Modeling and simulation of bio‐based processes are increasingly important in the modern laboratory world. This project aims to create, test, and validate a model of possible basidiomycetes' processes based on growth behavior to optimize mycelium production processes. The starting point are challenges in the context of the cultivation of basidiomycetes. On the one hand, pellets are formed during cultivation in liquid culture, which prevents standard methods such as the measurement of optical density. On the other hand, biofilms can form on sensors so that measured values such as pH and pO2 cannot be reliably determined. Approaches for accompanying analysis and modeling of the processes are being developed to gain a better understanding of the processes in the bioreactor.
